You will be instructed to download and install a media console, which will allow you to download audiobooks to your computer. We have titles for adults, teens and children. Right now our selection for iPods is pretty small, but growing everyday, so be sure to check back often! The library has mp3 players for available for check out and will soon have a download station in our building for those of you who don't have internet access at home. We're getting that set up right now, and will update the blog when it is ready to go.

That's fantastic. However, the only player I can find on the site you linked to only works with Microsoft operating system.
Where can those of us on Apple or Linux computers get the player?
Oops...I must have made a Gates-ian slip by referring to Windows computers as "a computer."
When I talked to Overdrive's rep a few months ago, he assured me that a mac player was in the works and should be available at the beginning of 2009. Of course, we'll see if it comes out on time.
In Linux I assume the player would work in WINE, but that makes me curious so I'm going to try it right now and report back in a bit.
So, you know what happens when I assume...
So far, I've had no luck at all getting the media console to load in Linux using WINE.
I talked to a rep from Overdrive and there is a mac console in the works, and I'm waiting to hear back on a Linux solution.
