We continue on our quest to recognize all the great readers that frequent our fine city of Missoula. We were out and about at the Clark Fork River Market on Saturday and snagged five new folks who were only too delighted to "get caught reading" for our special Missoula Public Library May promotion. And thanks to all who stopped by the library table at the market. Don't forget--we're giving out free library cards at the market and have a great supply of books you can check out right then and there!Your Missoula Public Library--always thinking more!
PICTURED: Kim Granath, Debbie Sullivan (with friend), Sheila Hurd, Emilee and Lindsey Maplethorpe, and Rebecca Wallace (who remembered the bookmobile with great fondness from her youth and was THRILLED to have her photo taken with it!).

Fun at the fair!
We're having fun at the fair! Stop by and see us; fill out a survey to share your ideas about the library and win a prize. We have really enjoyed greeting streams of kids and their parents coming in since the opening today. You'll see lots of folks wearing Missoula Public Library bracelets and carrying library book bags full of fair fun stuff thanks to our great volunteers helping at the table. And we have a children's corner where parents and kids needing a break can stop, sit and read a book. What a great way to relax and recharge your batteries for more fun at the fair.
| great books available for impromptu story times! |

See us at the fair!
See you at the Western Montana Fair on Thursday with the bookmobile. We'll have some fun giveaways and little children's corner where you can take a break with the kids and read them a story. We'll also have some information about the library Envision project and the public forum on Saturday the 14th in the Large Meeting Room. Come by and say hi!

Good morning Missoula!!
It's a lovely day here at the Farmers' Market under the Higgins Street bridge. Join us at the bookmobile as you get your week's supply of fresh veggies, flowers and other goodies. We've got books on taking care of your produce from garden to kitchen, and lots of others. I've even grabbed some new arrivals that have never even been to the shelves to make their debut here at the market.
We also have some information on today's Envision meeting that will take place this afternoon at 1:00 in the library's large meeting room. Share with us your vision of the future of the library as we plan our next decade and beyond.
Think... more!

UM Homecoming Parade - Go Griz!!!
Good morning, sweet home Montana and welcome to the home of the Griz. The Missoula Public Library was out in force showing their support for the Griz with their bookmobile and their world-renowned book cart drill team headed up by Ms. Kara. We're not all about books and stuff, we're also about supporting the community. And although it was cold enough to, well I'll let you fill in the blanks, we were happy to be there to support the Griz.

On the road
The Bookmobile is hitting the road again this weekend, heading over to the River Market tomorrow (Saturday). Last time we had a blast reading stories to our youngest visitors...
All this travelling around made me start thinking about road trips-- that epic, American, coming-of-age, cross-country journey. Of course, we all think of John Steinbeck's classic Travels with Charley when we think of road trip books. But what other road trip books have you enjoyed? Go ahead, throw in a few movie suggestions while you're at it...

Marvelous day for the market
What a day we had at the market! Thanks to the hundreds of people who stopped at our table and chatted with us and checked out books (and I'm not exaggerating). We gave out 24 new library cards this morning and checked out lots of books. And we loved hearing the cool comments from people who were so happy to see us there!

We can hardly wait for our next market trip - the last Saturday of every month all summer. Feeling like you missed out? Be sure to stop in and browse at our next market visit, June 27. Or, if you can't wait that long, we're open every day of the week at the main library.

On the road
In case you missed our earlier blog - we've spruced up our bookmobile and we're getting ready to hit the road this weekend!

Come visit us at the River Market (by the bridge) Saturday May 30, where you can browse books and other materials for all ages on gardening, cooking, and all sorts of market-type topics. We'll even throw in a few fiction books for good measure. If you don't have a library card, you can get one right there - so go home with a book straight from the market. Plus we'll have info on all the cool stuff we're offering this season to get you out of the summer heat. So stop by and visit us at the market - or you could go the traditional route and swing by the library building on E Main. Heck, we'll let you do both!

Our Bookmobile Gets a Facelift
Check out the new look of our bookmobile! We're dusting it off and getting it ready to leave the garage for the first time in a few years. We added our new logo and, as Bob Ross would say, some "happy clouds" to the side.
You'll be able to see the Bookmobile out in the wild starting May 30th. We're going to send it down to the Farmer's Market (Clark Fork River Market) and have gardening, cooking and other DIY books to check out. You heard right, you'll be able to check out books at the Farmer's Market soon. Pretty cool.
