Word Woman
Welcome to another spine-tingling installment of Word Woman's Weekly Work-Out! Just a few days remain before the chilling celebration of all things spooky and creepy that we call Halloween is upon us. Hopefully, everyone out there has their costumes and treats all ready for the big night. If not, you can always drop in here at the library and pick up a book of recipes or crafts for a few last-minute tips. Here's a Halloween Word of the Week to get you in the spirit:
Preternatural:
1. Existing outside of nature
2. Exceeding what is natural or regular : extraordinary
3. Inexplicable by ordinary means; especially : psychic
"preternatural", http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/preternatural 10/21/2010.
Example: Martin was at a loss to explain to the police the preternatural goings-on which resulted in his car being parked on the roof of a twenty-story office building.
